My good friend Nickodemus, of "Turntables on the husdon" and "Wonderwheel
Recordings" is releasing a couple of remix's I put together for
this amazing Brooklyn based group known as "The Pimps of
Joytime". I highly recommend you check out their debut album
High Steppin', It's incedible, funky as hell...just the way I like it.
Wonderwheel recordings has released "Hi STEPPIN' FUNK FIXES &
REMIXES", a collection of remixes from "Hi STEPPIN" plus new
original material. I contributed 2 remixes to the album. The first, "Bonita"
was pre-released on limited edition '12 vinyl (my first '12 vinyl
release) and is available online at Juno records. Juno.co.uk The other track
is "San Francisco Bound" and it is available on
cd, and the entire album is for sale digitally on itunes, amazon,
napster websites. Here is a direct link to my preferred site Dancetracks Digital. I've got a
few new remix projects in the works so stay tuned.
For you aspiring dj's out there, you can
catch me working as a Dj instructor at NYC's own Dubspot,
school for Dj'in and music production. Dubspot features an amazing cast of
veteran industry professionals. Come check us out. dubspot.com
My first official compilation has been released by Dubspot Records. I was enlisted by
Dubspot to compile and mix a selection of funk tunes for a worthy cause,
which also happens to be Dubspot Records premier release. The worhty cause,
Nextaid. I encourage you to log onto the Nextaid
website to see what they are
involved with. The compilation is entitled "FUNK AID FOR AFRICA", so obviously the cause involves mother Africa . I spent a
good amount of time putting it together and i'm very happy with the finished
results. Early response has been very positive. Physical cd's are available
and it is available online. If you'd like to spend $15 of your hard earned
dollars to support a worth cause, and get some incredible music in return.
Get it here Dancetracks Digital. Some of the featured
artist on the comp inlcude, King
Britt, Ursula Rucker, J Boogie's Dubtronice Science, The Pimps of Joytime,
Nappy G, TM Juke, and many other top
notch artist from the global underground. All proceeds from the compilation
go to Nextaid. Show your love for the funk!
If you live in the L.A. area there is an incredible party you must check it...if you haven't already. "AFROFUNKE", it goes down every Thursday night at Zanzibar in Santa Monica. This party has been rockin' for 7 strong years. One of L.A.'s finest selectah's Jeremy Sole is the resident spinner. I've had the pleasure to get down with the Afrofunke crew a couple of times, always a highlight. One of the parties founders is Ghanian inport, Rocky Dawuni. Aside from co-hosting the Afrofunke festivaties he's also an amazing artist. His latest album is entitled "Hyms for the rebel soul". It's pure fiya!!. I was enlisted to hook up a remix and I choose his tune "Master Plan". The tune and the entire album is a solid listen I highly recommend, if you appreciate reggae, soul, african vibes. The album is available online at major retailers. The remix ep that will feature my mix will be released this summer 2010. Stay tuned!! Album link
